About us
Hey there!
I’m Jose Miguel, originally from Colombia and the founder of 23 de Mayo Coffee. This project began during the pandemic with a clear mission: to offer exceptional Colombian coffee while sharing the untold stories of the families behind every bean.
Since July 2020, I’ve worked exclusively with the Indigenous Nasa community in Tierradentro, Cauca—building strong, direct relationships with the families who grow our coffee with ancestral knowledge and deep respect for the land. Guided by this purpose, I became certified in Good Agricultural Practices and Barismo, ensuring quality, sustainability, and fairness from farm to cup.
In 2022, life brought my wife Kelly and me to Minnesota, where she took on a new role in the medical device industry. With her encouragement and support, I relaunched 23 de Mayo Coffee in the U.S., staying true to our purpose: connecting you to extraordinary Colombian coffee while honoring the people who make it possible
